Region Coding
Region coding was introduced into DVD discs to prevent releases in one geographical area being sold in another prior to the official release in that area. USA is region 1 and Europe is region 2.

Some DVD players are advertised as being 'multi-region'. This is not normally a claim made by the manufacturer.
There are two means of achieving multi-region operation:
1. By performing a 'hack' on the DVD player using a combination of button presses to reach a normally hidden menu in order to select an alternative region code.
2. By fitting a 'chip' into the DVD player to override the normal region detection feature.

There are currently changes taking place on region 1 (USA) discs to prevent their being played on code free DVD players.

For the above reasons we have not included region coding information in the main features as it may be misleading.
All players listed are set up for region 2 operation.

Where a supplier offers a product as multi-region this is shown in the additional features (under the '+' sign)
